Your Body is Your Temple June 28, 2022 by Jessica StapfShareTweetSharePinHow do you treat your body? Emotionally and physically; how do you think of your body and how do you treat your body? So often I witness women treat their bodies with disrespect, doubt, regret, and shame. They so easily see all the ways that it falls short… The extra weight around their midsection that seems impossible to lose. Not being able to run the entire mile. Not being able to “bounce back” after a baby (p.s.- that’s not physically possible) Not fitting into your high school jeans (by the way – get rid of those!!) The double-chin that appears when you genuinely laugh. The wrinkles on your face. The grey hairs peeking through. The sprigs of hair that pop up on your big toe. The cellulite on your legs. It seems like these are the easy things to cling to. The “ugly” side of it all. Here’s the deal, I feel called to share that your body (in this exact form) is what got you here. You wouldn’t be here without it. Period. We so easily “freshen-up” the house before guests come over. You clean the floors on your hands and knees, decorate it in the most beautiful way, entertain your family, and have the best memories within it. It’s your safe place. But why don’t we treat our bodies this way? With respect, love, and gratitude? As a safe place? It’s time to shift our perspectives… That mid-section weight? It’s there as proof that you grew a human being inside there. What a blessing. Not being able to run the entire mile? But you walked the last quarter of it and still finished. The wrinkles on your face? Those prove a life well-lived. Those grey hairs? Are a true sign of wisdom and growth. Let’s see our bodies as the blessings that they are. The true miracles! As women, our bodies carry an immense amount of power. We’re warriors. Why not celebrate every ounce of being that has gotten us to where we are today? My friend, if you are still feeling “blocked” or “stuck” in this area of your life, reach out to me! Loving your body is a kind of self-love that’s beautiful and powerful. It’s time to embrace that version of you so that you can live your best you! I will leave this with you… Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Throughout my years of self-discovery, it took me longer than I preferred to realize that my body is my temple. This verse always hits home for me when I’m not taking care of my body, emotions, and/or whole being, and I just thought I would share with you. My inbox is always open.
